This website (run.chiujohn.com, "the Site") is a personal project built and maintained by John Chiu. It tracks registration and ballot information for marathons and trail races worldwide. This policy explains what data the Site collects and how it is used.
1. What we collect
- Subscription data (voluntary): if you use the subscribe form, we store your email address, optional name and language preference. It is used only to email you when a race you follow opens or closes registration.
- Anonymous visit counter: the Site keeps a single total page-view number on our own server. It contains no IP address, device fingerprint or other identifying data, and is not used to build user profiles.
- Server logs: standard web server logs (IP, time, path) are kept briefly for security and troubleshooting.
The Site does not ask for ID numbers, phone numbers, credit card or bank details, and has no user accounts or login system.
2. Email communications
Subscriptions use double opt-in: after submitting the form you receive a confirmation email, and you are only added once you click the link. Every notification email contains a one-click unsubscribe link. You may also email us at any time to access or permanently delete your subscription data.
3. Cookies and third-party advertising
The Site may display advertising served by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites:

4. External links
The Site links extensively to official race websites, entry platforms and news media. We do not control and are not responsible for their content or privacy practices; please review their own policies.
5. Children
The Site provides general sports-event information and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
6. Security and retention
Subscription data is stored on a server we control, accessible only to the Site operator, and retained until you unsubscribe or ask for deletion. Deletion is permanent.
